GFNY Pérez Zeledón offers a fast course: 120 kilometers surrounded by nature, on a creative course that offers a bit of everything, including some punchy climbs that will provide enjoyable challenges on the road.
The race begins at Hotel del Sur with a short controlled rollout toward the city center. As you leave the urban area, the opening kilometers feature super-fast flat sections where everyone can go full gas, but be careful not to get caught off guard by an unexpected short climb. The course then passes through several urban areas before reaching the main road again and picking up speed once more.
The decisive part begins just after the flat sections, when near Pacuar riders face the first of several sustained climbs that will test perseverance and consistency. At kilometer 70, the course turns toward Santa Teresa de Cajón, climbing from 617 meters to 965 meters above sea level over about 8 kilometers of steady ascent. On the way to the top, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of Chirripó National Park and its surrounding mountain range, while also experiencing the region’s lush nature and green landscapes.
After the combination of climbs, hills, and mountain terrain, the course enters a false-flat section passing through the community of Rivas, before heading into the final kilometers of excitement and descent back to the finish line at Hotel del Sur.
LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 10% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.
MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.
